The electricity consumption during this period was 4,930.3 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%. In terms of industries, the primary industry consumed 63.4 billion kWh, with a year-on-year increase of 11.1%. However, the secondary industry has a yearly increase of 1.1% by consuming 3,255.2 billion kWh.
Contrary to the primary and secondary increase, the tertiary industry consumed 853.1 billion kWh, with a 4.6% increase. Industrial energy consumption is mainly on electrical energy, and the water pump is one of the most used equipment in industrial production.
Hence, it accounts for the large energy consumption. A survey showed that the electric pumps are responsible for about 21% of the national electricity consumption during this period, while water pumps are responsible for 40% to 50% of the national industrial electricity consumption.
Conclusively, the electrical pumps consume a large amount of electricity, and their energy-saving potential is huge. However, if domestic pumps are made more efficient, only by 1%, the electricity consumption of water pumps from January to July can save around 10.35363 billion kWh.
Assuming a 100,000-square-meter shopping mall’s annual electric consumption is about 30 million kWh, the energy savings due to a 1% efficiency improvement can supply it for more than 345 years.
